For this kind of business, RentOS has a base accounting mode \u2014 \"Counters.\" It's also the default for a new zone if you don't pick something else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rentos365.app\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/counters2.jpg\" alt=\"A kids&#039; electric car\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Idea Is Simple: a Counter Does the Counting, Not a Person<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every asset \u2014 an electric car, a quad bike \u2014 has its own ride counter. It only goes up and never resets itself: over a shift, the number simply gets bigger by however many times it was used. At the end of the shift, the employee opens \"Results Submission\" and copies over the current number from each counter. RentOS calculates the difference from the last submission on its own \u2014 that's the number of rides for the shift \u2014 and multiplies it by the rate's price. There's no need to count rides by hand, \"tally marks in a notebook,\" at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A zone can have one or two rates \u2014 say, \"5 minutes\" and \"10 minutes\" at different prices. With two rates, an asset physically has two counters (two RFID keys on the device), and each is counted separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If Counting by Taps Is More Convenient Than Reading a Counter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A physical counter isn't convenient everywhere: sometimes it's simpler for the employee to just tap \"plus one\" on the screen every time someone takes a ride. RentOS supports this too \u2014 it's turned on separately per zone, and the calculation formula doesn't change at all: the system just takes \"previous reading + number of taps during the shift\" instead of a manual entry. The real counter on the asset doesn't go anywhere \u2014 it just stops being mandatory at every submission and becomes a tool for periodic spot-checks, if the Owner wants to verify the numbers match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Gap Between the Till and the Calculation Shows Up Right Away<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After every submission, RentOS compares two sums: how much cash and non-cash the employee actually brought in, and how much should have come in based on the counter readings. If the sums don't match, the gap is visible that same day, tied to a specific zone and a specific shift \u2014 no need to wait until the end of the month to suspect something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Corrections \u2014 Only by the Owner, and With a History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Readings sometimes need a manual correction \u2014 say, after a counter gets physically reset with a PIN on the device itself. Only the Owner can do this, and every correction stays in a log: who, when, what it was, and what it became. The employee sees just the fact that a correction happened; the Owner sees the full history. And only the latest submission in an asset's chain of readings can be edited \u2014 if a later submission already exists for it, the old one can't be changed: this protects against accidentally corrupting the base that all subsequent revenue was calculated from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who It's For, and Who It Isn't<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Counters\" is a mode for assets rented out in short, identical rides: electric cars, go-karts, quad bikes. If a business is built differently \u2014 a guest spends time in a zone instead of taking rides (a play room, a VR club), or sells one-off events separate from time (quest rooms, workshops) \u2014
