In RentOS everything you create appears switched off: a point, a zone, and an asset alike. The logic is simple — creating means "I am getting it ready", switching on means "it is ready, we can work". This is deliberate: while you are setting up rates, assets, and settings, a staff member will not see an unfinished zone, and clients will not see an unfinished point on your public page.
It is easy to tell that an item is switched off: its card is shown in grey (desaturated), and next to the name there is a "pause" icon . An item that is switched on has, in the same place, a green check mark . The icon only shows the state, you do not need to tap it — switching on lives in the menu .
How to switch it on #
- Point. Open "Points", tap the menu to the right of the point you need, and choose "Activate Point".
- Zone. "Points" → open the point → tap the zone card → on the zone page open the menu in the top right and choose "Activate Zone".
- Asset. On the same zone page find the asset in the list, open the asset's menu, and choose "Activate Asset".
The order matters: the point first, then the zone, then the asset. While the point is off, all of its zones are shown in grey in the list, even if each of them is switched on by itself.
What happens while an item is switched off #
- The point is off — a staff member on this point's device will not be able to do anything: the sections in the bottom bar will not appear, and Results submission, sales, and launches are unavailable. The point is also hidden from the Landing Page and is not offered in the point selector on devices with Roaming.
- The zone is off — a staff member does not see it at all: neither in the Results submission wizard nor in the "Counters", "Launches", "Stays", "Tickets" sections. The system does not wait for such a zone in the "Daily Cash Register" summary — the summary will not hang waiting. The zone is not shown on the Landing Page either.
- The asset is off — here it works differently: a staff member still sees it in the Results submission, but the reading field is read-only, with the last known value. Such an asset cannot be chosen for a new launch, stay, or ticket, and it is not shown on the Landing Page. This is handy when a ride has gone in for repair: its readings are not lost, but it cannot be used.
Switching on is also an announcement #
If you have connected a public Telegram group for clients and announcements about new items are enabled in its settings, the "New zone" message is sent exactly at the moment of switching on, not at the moment of creation. That is intended: you calmly prepare the zone, and clients learn about it when it actually opens. Tapping "Activate" again on an already active zone sends nothing.
Switching off is not deleting #
Deactivation keeps the whole history: results submissions, revenue, readings. Use it when a point is closed for the season, a zone is under maintenance, or an asset has gone in for repair. You can switch it back on at any time with the same menu item.
What to Do If… #
…you created a zone, set everything up, but the staff member does not see it? Nine times out of ten the zone is simply not switched on. Check in order: whether the point is on, whether the zone itself is on, and whether the staff member has access to this zone. After switching it on, ask the staff member to close and reopen the app.
…you cannot find the "Activate" item? It is always the first one in the menu. For a point this menu is in the points list; for a zone and an asset it is on the zone page itself.
…the system will not let you deactivate? A message like "Finish the active launches before deactivating the zone" appears, or a message about unredeemed tickets. This is a safeguard: in a switched-off zone there is no one to stop a launch and nothing to redeem a ticket with. Finish the launches, wait until the tickets are redeemed or expire, and try again.
…it is easier to delete than to switch off? Deleting a point takes all of its zones and assets with it, and the system will not let you delete a zone that has a results-submission history at all. For a temporary pause deactivation is always the right choice.
…you installed the demo data during sign-up? They come already switched on — the only exception to the rule, so that you can see right away how everything works.
