In RentOS a few words are used in a strictly defined sense. Without knowing them the other articles are hard to read. Here they are gathered in one place — in plain words and with examples.
What your business is made of in the system #
Компания — is you as a whole. One account, one subscription, your own employees and settings.
Point — the physical place where you work: a park, a shopping centre, a promenade. If you have two sites at opposite ends of town, that is two locations. If you have one, there is one location too — it is simply your only one.
Zone — a part of a location where something of one kind stands and is counted the same way: «Electric cars», «Trampoline», «Playroom». A zone matters because it is where the counting method and the prices are set.
Asset — a specific thing that brings in money: car No. 3, a trampoline, a separate room, a ride. Assets live inside a zone. Five cars are five assets in one «Electric cars» zone.
The easiest way to remember it: a location is an address, a zone is a type of entertainment, an asset is a single unit.
Money and prices #
A rate — the price. It is set on the zone and then attached to assets. One tariff can be used by several assets at once.
Наличные и безнал — money in the drawer and money that arrived by card or transfer. Cashless money is not in the till, so in the calculations these two are always kept apart.
Баланс — the client's money held with you in advance. The client tops the balance up once and then pays with it without reaching for their wallet.
Абонемент — a balance top-up plan: «pay 500 — get 600». In RentOS the word itself means exactly that plan, not a person.
Collection — you have taken the money away from the location. After it, the money is no longer in the location's till.
Change — the opposite: you put small change into the till so there is something to give change with. This is not revenue.
How the system counts #
Accounting Mode — the way a zone counts its work. There are five of them and it is chosen for the zone once:
- Counters — the asset has a device that counts the rides itself. The employee copies the readings down at the end of the shift.
- Launches — there is no device; the employee marks every ride with a tap in the app. A replacement for the paper notebook.
- Stays — time. A child arrives, the employee starts the timer; the child leaves, the employee stops it.
- Tickets — sold in orders in advance, redeemed at the entrance.
- Cash only — nothing is counted piece by piece; the employee enters the total amount.
Сеанс — one ride or one run. This is what the counter on the asset counts.
Calculated revenue — how much there should be by the system's calculation: quantity × price.
Actual till — how much money there actually turned out to be.
Разница — the gap between these two numbers. It has its own article.
Two words people often confuse #
Results submission — это про деньги зоны. At the end of the work the employee enters the readings and the actual till, the zone closes, the revenue is calculated.
Смена — это про a person's working time. What time the employee came in, what time they left, how much they are owed.
These are different things, and in RentOS they never mix. You can submit results several times during a shift; you can close a shift without submitting results.
People and access #
Owner — you. You sign in with an email and password or with your own PIN, and see the account with reports and settings.
Employee — the person at the location. They have neither an email nor a password: they sign in with a short PIN from the work device and see only the working app.
Device — a tablet or phone bound to a location. Until the device is bound, you cannot sign in with a PIN from it.
The — a part of the system you can switch off if you do not need it: Products, Tickets, Clients, Tasks, Briefings, Landing page. A disabled module simply disappears from the menu and bothers no one. It does not affect the subscription price — plans differ only in the number of locations, zones, assets and employees.
Words about devices #
The app (PWA) — RentOS can be installed on a tablet so that it has its own icon and a full screen, like an ordinary program. Nothing needs to be downloaded separately.
QR-код — a square picture you point your phone camera at. We use it where otherwise a long link would have to be dictated.
